Drawing from life as I observe it inevitably involves people.  The figures I produce are not realistically portrayed but are representative of my observation of them.  My intention is to represent some of the feelings and emotions which float between my sensory experience and my imagination.  Sometimes the quality I find might come from the subjects themselves, but sometimes might appear later in context of a painting.

I draw people much more than I photograph them but when I have opportunity to photograph it is wonderful to do that in a context where I can apply the same concentration of observation as I would with a drawing.
